Punjab Technical University has been established by an act of the State Legislature to promote Technical, Management & professional education at the degree level & above.

Under Section 3 of the University Act, the Punjab Technical University is authorised to Institute and confer Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates & academic distinction. The nomenclature of all the courses is as per the University Grants Commission (UGC) norms mentioned in Section 22 of UGC Act. The university is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities. Thus the degrees and diplomas given by the Punjab Technical University stand recognized by other University on a reciprocal basic. All colleges/institutes affiliated to Punjab Technical University offering professional Post Graduate Degrees have the approval of AICTE., New Delhi.

Punjab Technical University distance education and elearning programmes are offered through its authorised affiliated centres. AWARD OF DEGREE/DIPLOMA/CERTIFICATE
	The Degree/Diploma/Certificate will be awarded to the student only if he/she has acquired a pass grade in all the end semester examinations.
	In the event that the student is not in a position to continue the programme that he/she sought admission to the student will not be awarded Degree/Diploma/Certificate

Degree Equivalence in UK

In a first of its kind, the PTU has collaborated with six United Kingdom Govt. Funded Universities and educational Institutions for introducing Dual Degree under graduate and post graduate courses in Hotel Management, Fashion and Textile, Retail Management, Health and Paramedical, Information Technology and Business Management disciplines under the distance education mode.

Universities and Institutions in United Kingdom recognize courses offered by Punjab Technical University through its network of Distance Education. They also offer lateral entry into the 3rd semester of their Bachelor Programme to our Diploma students.
